Five fall must-haves.
You know what is means when pumpkin spice everything is out again in stores: Fall time is officially here! Along with pumpkin spice lattes, these five design essentials are trending too this fall and are must-haves this season!
1. Velvet
Soft, luxorious, cuddly-tactile, and just plain elegant. Velvet is one of the must haves this fall to add another warm and cozy addition to your space. There are several ways you can incorporate more velvet into your life. You can use pillows, throws, velvet upholstered headboards, or better yet bring in a velvet accent chair to any room. Velvet is best paired with natural accents like woven pieces or sisal/jute area rugs.
2. Dark colored paint
What! No more white and gray? Paint is moving to the dark side, black and onyx tones are trending this fall and making a scene on the walls. Afraid that you will see too much dark? To avoid this, offset the dark walls by using white or light accent pillows, throws, picture frames to brighten the room. If onyx is too much of a commitment to the trend, then bring in rich chocolate tones to still create the effect.
3. Matte Black fixtures/accessories
Bathrooms and kitchens are heavly impacted by this trend. Matte black is making an appearance in all aspects of design and not just contemporary. This exquisite look can be found in lighting and vanity fixtures paired with natural tones, stark white offsets, and industrial decor.
4. Interesting bedding/quilts
Baby it's cold outside!! Escpecially for the fall and upcoming winter season, quilts and cozy bedding tops the trend charts. White seems to be out and various textures and patterns are in. Paired with the vibrant textures and styles of bedding this fall are fabulous quilts and blankets. If you have to be covered up in a blanket, make it a dashing one! The classic quilt is back in and providing any space with a homey, cozy feel.
5. Wooven textures/natural textures
Welcome in the natural look and warm feel of woven textures. These types of materials not only bring a pleasant feel to any space, they compliment all of the trends this fall! Hang baskets on the wall in a manner to make a statement. Use wicker baskets to fill magazines or blankets. Plant your favorite succulents in small woven baskets. There are so many ways to incorporate this trend into your life!
